April 26, 2018 – The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) formally endorsed the 2018 Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act at its Central Committee meeting this week.
“For most people in Orange County, buying a home is simply impossible,” said Fran Sdao, DPOC Chair. “Tackle the cost of housing with your vote. Vote ‘Yes’ on the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act this November.”
DPOC joins a wide coalition of affordable housing advocates, business leaders, labor, veterans and environmental groups working to create affordable housing. The bond act addresses California’s severe housing shortage, and will appear on the November 2018 ballot.
Currently, 1 in 3 Californians can’t afford their rents. According to Affordable Housing Now, the $4 billion bond will put $23.4 billion into California’s economy, create 137,000 jobs, and build stable and affordable housing for struggling families, veterans, and people with disabilities.
