Nov 29, 2018, Orange, Calif. — Democratic Party of Orange County Chair Fran Sdao released the following statement today regarding the resignation of Eric Bauman as Chair of the California Democratic Party:
“A national movement of victims’ rights has awakened all of us, regardless of political affiliation, to the serious reality of harassment. As Democrats, we must be leaders and uphold the values we fight for, no matter where or when.
At the Democratic Party of Orange County, we take allegations seriously. As Chair, I led our efforts for new internal policies to strengthen protections for victims, and for independent investigation of allegations. I urge the California Democratic Party as well as our Democratic community to uphold the values we cherish. We must maintain the integrity of an independent investigation, as well as identify and implement any necessary reforms. Above all, we must protect the dignity, health and privacy of victims.”
