Orange, Calif. — In response to national attention around a Huntington Beach Councilmember’s claims that “the Democratic Party” planned a “White Lives Matter” rally in Huntington Beach, Democratic Party of Orange County Chairwoman Ada Briceño issued the following response:
“We are compelled to call out this dangerous rhetoric, because it fuels the same hatred and division that we are working to stop. At a time when Orange County is suffering from the COVID pandemic, surging hate crime, and intimidating and threatening acts by white nationalists and the KKK, such comments deepen our crisis.
“We want to make it clear: We will not be distracted from the important work ahead of us, including a strong COVID-19 recovery, building communities rooted in compassion, and more pathways to safely report hate crimes.”
