The Democratic Party of Orange County, the majority party representing more than half a million registered Democratic voters in Orange County, California, adopted new positions on several key issues at its regular meeting on September 23rd, 2019. 

Orange County Democrats approved a resolution calling for an end to the criminalization of those experiencing homelessness when there is a lack of alternative for shelter.  The resolution called upon South Orange County cities to stop the criminalization practice of those experiencing homelessness, and to settle Housing is a Human Right Orange County v. County of Orange

Democrats took up a resolution that called for the reform of ICE to end the abusive and inhumane living conditions and treatment of immigrants and refugees. The Central Committee also approved a measure requiring the Democratic Party of Orange County to choose socially responsible union Fair Hotels when organizing hotel events.

“I acknowledge and thank everyone who took time to share their opinions,” said Chair Ada Briceño, of the resolution discussion process. “We are committed to a democratic decision-making process that allows people to express themselves.”
