Orange, Calif. – As Orange County’s most corrupt politician, Michelle Steel was caught self-dealing with hundreds of thousands of dollars from the California taxpayers. New reporting details how during this pandemic, Steel cut in line and took a PPP loan all the while Orange County small businesses were struggling to keep the doors open.

Meanwhile, a month after taking hundreds of thousands from taxpayers, Steel gave another $500,000 in her own money to her campaign. This is not the first time Steel has plunked half a million into her struggling campaign. In total, Steel has donated over $1.25 million to keep her candidacy relevant.

Which begs the question – If you can afford to give your campaign over $1 million, why are you taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from the taxpayers in funds meant for struggling small businesses?

It is because Michelle Steel is the most corrupt politician in Orange County, who is only looking out for herself and her political pals.

Statement from DPOC Chair Ada Briceño:

“Michelle Steel’s crooked record of self-dealing and only looking out for herself and her political allies, tells the voters all they need to know – Michelle Steel is Orange County’s most corrupt career politician. After all these years in Orange County politics, Steel still thinks the rules the rest of us follow don’t apply to her. It’s clear that if she went to Washington, she would only look out for herself and her political pals, not everyday families.”

About the Democratic Party of Orange County

Once famously known as “Reagan country,” after President Reagan called Orange County the place where “all good Republicans go to die,” Orange County is rapidly shifting from a Republican stronghold into a highly diverse Democratic metropolis.

Chair Ada Briceno, a longtime labor organizer, Co-President of UNITE HERE Local 11, and recently elected Democratic National Committee member, is the first immigrant and second Latina to lead the Democratic Party of Orange County. Her executive leadership team includes Latino, Vietnamese, millennial, and LGBT representation.

Democrats swept all seven Congressional seats in Orange County in 2018. Less than a year later, Democrats overtook countywide voter registration to become the region’s leading political party. Today, OC Democrats have gained more than a 2-point voter advantage over the GOP

Orange County is the nation’s sixth largest county, with 3.2 million residents and more than half a million registered Democratic voters.
