Eight ways to be an active Democrat at home

1. Stay Safe, Stay Home. The most important thing is to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Follow recommendations set by the CDC.

2. Donate to Candidates. Democratic candidates have cancelled events and canvassing. Your contribution will make a difference. Find a list of candidates here.

3. Call your Elected Officials. Keep calling your elected officials — from School Board to Senate — to find out what theyre working on, how you can help, and tell them what your priorities are. Find Democratic elected officials here.

4. Join an Online Training or Virtual Phone Bank. More organizers are hosting trainings to help you get connected online. Reach out to a campaign or contact us to get started.

5. Watch Local Government Meetings. Learn what our county, city councils and school boards are doing in response to COVID-19. Meetings are happening online, and some jurisdictions are incorporating more tools to help you participate online. 

6. Take the Census. Fill out your census form, and encourage your friends and family to fill it out, too. For more information visit census.gov.

7. Give Back, Volunteer. Support local small businesses by buying gift cards that you can use later. Volunteers are needed to donate food, donate blood, make masks, and more! Contact your local elected officials or Democratic club for local needs.

8. Share News from Trusted Sources. Scams are on the rise, and plus, some Republicans are downplaying COVID-19! Keep an eye out for scams and misinformation. Eviction Moratoriums
Some OC cities are taking action. Is yours?

Thank you to the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Garden Grove and Santa Ana for taking steps forward for temporary eviction deferrals, to help
renters and small businesses stay in place during the COVID-19 response. If you live in any of these cities, check with your local elected officials or visit your city website for more information. Actions vary by city.

March Presidential Primary Finalized – Congratulations Democrats!

In the March Primary, voters stood strong with Orange County’s new Congressional representatives. Katie Porter, Gil Cisneros, Harley Rouda and Mike Levin all received the largest number of primary votes ever earned by a Democrat in their districts.

In state senate races, more voters chose Democrats than Republicans. Democrats won 52.4% of the total vote in SD-29 against Republican incumbent Ling-Ling Chang, and 52.6% of the total vote in SD-37 against Republican incumbent John Moorlach. Congratulations to Democratic Party primary leads Josh Newman (SD-29) and Dave Min (SD-37), our Democratic candidates in November.

In state assembly races, Assembly members Sharon Quirk-Silva (AD-65), Tom Daly (AD-69), and Cottie Petrie-Norris (AD-74) are in the lead for re-election in November. Congratulations to Andrew Rodriguez (AD-55), Melissa Fox (AD-68), Diedre Nguyen (AD-72) and Scott Rhinehart (AD-73) for heading to election in November.

In local elections, congratulations to Orange County Board of Education Trustee Beckie Gomez for winning re-election and Orange County Board of Supervisors 1st District candidate Sergio Contreras for moving forward to election in November.
