Orange, Calif. – The blue wave keeps rolling in Orange County. Aliso Viejo and Westminster, two cities on opposite sides of OC, flipped from red to blue with Democratic-majority voter registration this week.
Chair Briceño released the following statement:
“Aliso Viejo and Westminster voters are speaking loud and clear: they reject the GOP’s hateful and divisive policies. Democrats are hard at work to create a better future. We believe in healthy communities, affordable costs of living, and the dignity and rights of all people.
Despite this historic change, Orange County Democrats still have a lot of work to do. We must commit ourselves to organize for 2020. We need all hands on deck for the next 12 months, in every corner of OC.”
The change is widely seen as yet another in a series of rapid political changes underway throughout Orange County. Two months ago, Orange County Democrats celebrated as the county’s average voter registration flipped blue for the first time in decades. Costa Mesa’s voter registration flipped blue in February.
Since becoming the dominant political party in Orange County, Democrats have been gaining a growing voter registration lead that now stands at over 11,000 registered voters countywide.
