ORANGE, Calif. — In response to the United States Supreme Court decision issued today on the Trump administration’s rollback of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Democratic Party of Orange County Chair Ada Briceño released the following statement:
“Today is a victory for the American Dream. Donald Trump’s attack on DACA recipients wasn’t just cruel, it was illegal. But make no mistake: Trump and other like-minded Republicans aren’t stopping.
Today’s decision gives young people breathing room, but it’s not enough. Let’s keep forging our path. We need comprehensive immigration reform and a path to citizenship, and we need it now.”
Chair Briceño is the first immigrant to Chair the Democratic Party of Orange County. She immigrated to the United States at the age of six, when her family fled a brutal civil war in Nicaragua.
