Job Description

The Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) is seeking a Digital Fellow to join our dynamic team. The DPOC provides a full range of services to candidates, clubs, Democratic organizations, and activists. This is an excellent opportunity If you wish to play an integral role in  Orange County politics. 

You would work closely with the DPOC team to assist with all aspects of email campaigns and social media. This would include writing copy, creating unique graphics, managing email lists, generating online petitions, creating donation forms, drafting social media, and developing messaging plans.

You should have an interest in digital communications, political writing, and email campaigns. Experience writing copy for a candidate, elected official, or organization and experience using an email management platform is preferred. Additional experience with donation processing platforms, Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe InDesign is appreciated.

If you have had a sense of strategic political writing and the ability to quickly adapt and expand on new messaging concepts, this position is ideal for you. A willingness to learn new skills that complement email campaign strategy is key in this role. Fellows may be considered for full-time employment at the conclusion of the fellowship.  

The DPOC Digital Fellow will work 10 hours per week and be compensated at $20/hr. 

Qualifications

  • Be a strong self-starter and self-driven individual
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Experience with grassroots organizing a plus, but not a requirement
  • A profound understanding of the issues of social justice
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours when needed
  • Understanding of social storytelling on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other digital platforms
  • Knowledge of content creation that will motivate and persuade both political and non-political audiences
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English; Vietnamese/English) a plus
