Vote all the way down your ballot – Every time!

Our national elections are vitally important, but we must not overlook the battles in our own back yard. The truth is: Local elections matter. Studies show they have a dramatic impact on quality of life, and can even be a matter of life and death.

For example, the OC Board of Supervisors oversee programs for foster care, homelessness, hate crimes, and incarceration, just to name a few. Yet Republicans on the Board have starved funding for homeless services and even shrugged off preventable deaths and rights abuses. Some are huge Trump fans — and just like him, they were accused of abusing their office for political gain.

The OC Board of Education is equally important for vulnerable families. Encroaching charter schools, LGBT rights and racial equality are issues our OCBOE faces every day. And unlike other elections, there is no November runoff for OCBOE — its decided this March, so we need to act now.

For OC Board of Supervisors, support Sergio Contreras for the 1st District, and Ashleigh Aitken for the 3rd District.

For OC Board of Education, support Beckie Gomez for 1st District Trustee and Andy Thurburn for 3rd District Trustee.

Find all our endorsed primary election candidates, from County to Congress, on our website. Bookmark this page for your March primary ballot!

In the weeks to come, I will call on you to support big actions in our local elections. Watch for more canvassing announcements coming soon!

In unity,

Ada Briceño
Chair, Democratic Party of Orange County
